Duck & Dough started with a pond, a pastry, and a building that had been sitting empty for too long. Max Freitas had spent years perfecting his pastel de natas — supplying cafés around Swansea through his business Natas by Max. But he always wanted a place of his own.

When he spotted the empty unit on Marlborough Road, just steps from Brynmill Park, he knew it was the one. The café opened in August 2024. The duck mural on the side of the building was a nod to the ducks that have called Brynmill Park home for generations. Max named the café in their honour.

We're not just a café. We're a community hub — a warm, welcoming place for neighbours, students, park walkers, and anyone who needs a good coffee and something made with genuine care.
