At Selwyn's our pioneering spirit has been leading us to great discoveries for over 50 years. Since our grandfather Selwyn Jones started selling his cockles and Laverbread throughout the South Wales Valleys all those years ago, we haven't looked back.
Selwyn's is based on the beautiful shores of the Gower Peninsula, in the exact spot where our family's adventure first began. We're still a family-run business and remain true to Selwyn's original passion on our journey to wonderfully tasty discoveries.
We hand gather and cook our own Welsh cockles and Laverbread and we never settle for anything less than perfection when it comes to mouth-watering flavours and deliciously different textures.
As the popularity of local, sustainable and nutritious produce has grown, a new chapter in Selwyn's adventure has started to be written.
Selwyn's Seafood shack and visitors centre is situated alongside our production facility.
The shack is a celebration of our diverse industry, where you can step into the world of our local cockle and Laver gatherers of bygone days, then travel through the decades to the present day, exploring how our beloved industry has developed. There is always a family member or local gatherer around with plenty of seafaring tales to tell!
Dictated by seasonality and sustainability, we produce and purchase our products primarily from Welsh fishermen – from our Penclawdd cockle and Laver gatherers, Pembrokeshire lobster and crab, Atlantic Edge, Pembrokshire oysters, line caught Swansea Bay and Gower fish and a range of the very best products directly from all corners of the British coastline. Along with our shack shop we offer a delicious seafood menu for lunch, from deep fried cockles, Laverbread bites to garlic king prawns washed down with your favourite tipple.
Our wealth of knowledge in our industry, along with the trust we have built with our fishermen and suppliers, means we have access to the finest seafood Wales has to offer.
