Joanna Simpkins returns to Volcano Theatre for a second time in 2025 with a solo performance of her latest production, Silent Night, Raging Eve.

As Eve celebrates the festive season by throwing herself a Christmas party, the voices start creeping in. Eve is faced with the reality that she's not getting any younger – and she's definitely not trying hard enough to at least seem like she is. Silent Night Raging Eve is a dark comedy that explores what it means to get older in a society that values beauty and youth, and the added pressures that the festive season brings.

The show marks Joanna's third performance at Volcano Theatre, following Seagulls in 2015 and Juiced to Death earlier this year. Originally from Hull, Joanna has a strong connection to Wales after training at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and having spent several years working with Welsh theatre companies.

Throughout her career, Joanna has worked on a wide variety of productions, from classical texts to physical theatre. She is now creating work that draws on her lived experience and centres her own voice.
